Ebanie Bridges pokes fun at Eddie Hearn during weigh-in and gets big reaction from crowd by holding Leeds scarf
Ebanie Bridges endeared herself to Josh Warrington’s Leeds United supporters at their weigh-in on Friday.
The 6-1 (3 KOs) Australian is set to fight Mailys Gangloff on the undercard of Warrington’s crunch rematch with Mauricio Lara this weekend.
This will be Bridges’ second fight on the comeback trail after her world title defeat to Shannon Courtenay in April.
After beginning her career in her native Australia and reaching a record of 5-0, a surprise title shot arrived.
There were many critics of the WBA’s decision to sanction Courtenay vs Bridges for their bantamweight belt, however the fight delivered inside the ring.
The Brit edged the win at the end of a back-and-forth ten-round war.
Bridges left the ring with a massively swollen eye, but had done enough to earn further fights in the UK.
She returned with a win over Bec Connolly at Fight Camp and is now back in action again less than a month later.
Bridges wants a rematch with Courtenay, though will now have to settle with a bout against Gangloff for the time being.
At the weigh-in, Leeds fans flocked to see Warrington and also cheered loudly for Bridges as she wore a Leeds United scarf and sang along to club anthem ‘Marching On Together’.
